With 9+ years of providing individual counseling, Angela Mendiola has extensive skills across a range of issues and approaches and is well-versed in working with collaborative teams that aim to treat different aspects of a person’s well-being such as school psychologists, clinical psychologists, attorneys, school administrators, social workers, and primary care physicians.
Her professional training includes graduate internships at Kailua High School, the Chaminade University Counseling Center and a national internship funded by North Carolina State University as a Project Youth Extension Service Intern where she served military youth impacted by deployment for one year.
Three components that she finds most important in a therapeutic alliance are cultural sensitivity, empathetic understanding and listening.
Angela is a member of the Belongly Association, the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology and also serves as a Mental Health Consultant for MindEasy. She has also attended professional development conferences in Ireland, Italy and Norway where she had the opportunity to learn about the access of Mental Health care, health insurance panels and practices that are employed in those countries. She is certified in Psychodrama and Experiential Interventions for Relational Trauma and Level 1 Gottman Trained.
